The Criminal Investigation Department reported the facts yesterday (22) in front of Colombo Chief Magistrate Prasanna Alwis that an investigation was started regarding an alleged threat made to Sports Minister Mr. Roshan Ranasinghe by Sri Lanka Cricket Chairman Shammi Silva while holding a press conference.
Also, concurrently with this, the Criminal Investigation Department submitted to the court that they are also investigating a threat made by the Sports Minister’s former advisor Sudath Chandrasekara to the Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe over the phone.
A complaint was submitted to the Criminal Investigation Department’s Group Robbery Investigation Unit by Sports Minister Ranasinghe Arachchige Roshan Ranasinghe of No. 10, Sirisagabo Place, Bedivewa, Polonnaruwa.
Accordingly, the Criminal Investigation Department submitted to the court that the investigation was started by obtaining the unedited footage of the press conference held at the Cricket Institute on the 11th from several media organizations.
Also, the Criminal Investigation Department reported to the court that reports have been called from the relevant telephone companies to call for phone analysis reports regarding the statement made by the former advisor of the Sports Minister.
