Over 100mm of rain in some areas

The Department of Meteorology has issued a statement saying that due to the low pressure zone existing in the southeast Bay of Bengal sea area, an increase in rain conditions can be expected in the island and the northeast monsoon weather conditions are gradually establishing over the island.

Due to this, there may be rain or thundershowers from time to time in the Northern, North Central and Eastern Provinces and in some places in the Eastern Province and Polonnaruwa District, there may be heavy rain of about one hundred millimeters.

The Department of Meteorology says that after 1 pm in the other provinces of the island, there may be rain or thundershowers at some places and in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, Galle and Matara districts, there may be some heavy rains of about 75 mm.
