The visiting Bangladesh team suffered a defeat of 44 runs under the DLS method in the first ODI against New Zealand on Sunday (Dec 17).
As a result of the rain’s influence on the Dunedin match, each innings of the game was restricted to 30 overs.
Batting first, New Zealand finished the 30 overs scoring 239 runs for the loss of 7 wickets.
Will Young showcased an impressive performance by scoring 105 runs off 84 balls, including 4 sixes and 14 fours. On the other hand, Captain Tom Latham contributed with 92 runs off 77 balls, comprising of 3 sixes and 9 fours.
Latham and Young formed a remarkable partnership of 171 (145) runs for the third wicket, and setting Bangladesh a challenging target of 245 runs in 30 overs as per the Duckworth-Lewis method.
However, after completing 30 overs, they managed to score only 200 runs while losing 9 wickets.
Anamul Haq scored a total of 43 runs, while Afif Hossain managed to score 38 runs.
In bowling, Adam Milne, Ish Sodhi, and Josh Clarkson showcased their skills by taking two wickets each.
