New Zealand all-rounder Glenn Phillips took his maiden Test wicket on Tuesday (Nov 28), during the opening day of the first Test match between Bangladesh and New Zealand in Sylhet.
The second wicket for the Bangladesh team in their first innings was Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto, who was caught by Kane Williamson off a delivery from Phillips.
Najmul Hossain managed to score only 37 runs in this innings.
Glenn Phillips secured his maiden Test wicket by dismissing Bangladesh captain with a full toss delivery.
Phillips was surprised as he couldn’t believe that such a delivery had resulted in a wicket, and he instinctively placed his hands on his head in disbelief. (Watch the video below)
Besides taking this wicket, Phillips was also able to remove Mominul Haque for 37 runs in the 53rd over of the Bangladesh innings.
Bangladesh’s opening batsman Mahmudul Hasan Joy posted a score of 86 runs in the team’s first innings.
