A question from the country of birth of Miss Universe 2023

Banned from entering the country?

23-year-old Shanice Palacios from Nicaragua won the title of Miss Universe 2023.

The pageant where she won the Miss Universe title was held in El Salvador. Although Shanice has managed to bring great fame to her country by winning this crown, she is currently receiving ‘kindness’ from the rulers of Nicaragua.

In this background, it is even doubtful whether Shanice will be able to return to Nicaragua.

It is reported that she is currently in Mexico after participating in the Miss Universe pageant held in El Salvador.

The above problem has arisen not only in Shanis. Karen Celebrityy, the director of the country’s representative agency that selects Miss Nicaragua to compete in the Miss Universe pageant, is also involved in this problem.

This situation has emerged after the Nicaraguan authorities began to accuse Karen of ‘treason’ in recent days.

The President of Nicaragua is Daniel Ortega.

He is considered as a left-wing leader. In 2018, a large protest movement emerged in the country against his rule.

The protest movement was severely suppressed by the Ortega regime. It is said that around 300 people died here.

It was revealed a few days after she won the crown that Shanice, who won the Miss Universe crown, had also participated in these protests.

That is when the photographs of her participating in the protests and chanting slogans became public.

It was only then that the charges against Shanice and Karen began to emerge.

It has also been accused that Karen has given more attention to antigovernmental contestants in the selection of Miss Nicaragua, who represents Nicaragua in the Miss Universe pageant.

Police say Karen had participated in the aforementioned 2018 protests. When Shanice won the Miss Universe title, the Nicaraguan government also issued a statement congratulating her.

But later it was seen that the position of the government has changed.

With Shanice’s victory, thousands of Nicaraguans took to the streets to congratulate her and cheer her.

At that time, they were also seen waving Nicaraguan flags.

This flag is now considered to be a symbol of the wave of protests against Otega’s rule in 2018.

Meanwhile, the Nicaraguan authorities say that ‘traitors’ even use these beauty contests to develop anti-government sentiments among the people.

Rosario Murillo, Otega’s wife, had stated that these conspirators were also active when people lined the streets to congratulate Shanice.

De Murillo is the Vice President of Nicaragua.
However, because this was the first time that a Miss Nicaragua won a major beauty pageant in the world, Shanice’s victory was able to create great joy in the people of Nicaragua.

It is also stated that Karen, who went to see the Miss Universe pageant held in El Salvador, has not been allowed to return to Nicaragua.

The media has reported that she and her daughter have not been allowed to enter the country, so they have gone to Mexico. There is currently no indication that any such ban has been imposed against Shanis.

But it is not clear what will happen in the future. The media had further mentioned that Karen’s husband and son had been arrested. Police allege that they are also part of anti-government conspiracies. In this situation, Karen has taken steps to resign from the directorship of Miss Nicaragua.

In 2018, the people took to the streets against the Otega administration against several policies that the government was ready to implement. Under these policies, measures such as increasing taxes and cutting concessions were taken. One of the protesters’ slogans was that Otega should resign.

Otega, a leftist, is a leader of the anti-American camp. Because of this, allegations were raised on various occasions that American conspiracies were being carried out against his rule. At the time, his regime accused the protest that broke out in 2018 of being an American conspiracy.
