The upcoming January will witness the Zimbabwean men’s national cricket team embarking on a tour to Sri Lanka.
The tour will consist of 3 ODIs and 3 T20I matches between the two countries.
The one-day series will commence on January 6 at the Pallekele Stadium in Kandy, while the T20I series will kick off on January 14 at the Dambulla Stadium.
However, the match schedule for this tour has not yet been officially announced by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC).
This tournament marks Sri Lanka’s first international competition following the conclusion of the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup.
Furthermore, the upcoming series will serve as the initial test for the Sri Lankan team as they gear up for the T20 World Cup in 2024.
The 2024 T20 World Cup is set to take place from June 4 to 30, with participation from 20 countries.
At present, the Sri Lanka Cricket Board’s membership has been suspended by the International Cricket Council (ICC).
The ability of Sri Lanka to participate in international matches will remain unaffected by this suspension.
“However, funding to SLC will be controlled by the ICC and the ICC Board confirmed Sri Lanka will no longer host the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2024, which will now be held in South Africa.” ICC said in a press release on November 21.
