Sri Lanka’s Russell is the world’s best modeler – many more awards

The team of Sri Lankan models who participated in the I am model search international – 2024 tournament held in Malaysia, won the award for the best model in the world and many other achievements, and on 01/15 They arrived at Katunayake airport in the morning.

This tournament to select the best models in the world was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 01/10 to 01/14 with the participation of 72 models from 25 countries.

There, 19-year-old Russell Kenneth Perera, who presented himself in the youth category between the ages of 18-21 (MR: Teen), was able to claim the victory as the best young model in the world.

He is a resident of Welihena, Negombo.

It is special that after 10 years, Sri Lanka has been able to win the Best Model Award once again.
Also, 24-year-old Melonie Dasanayake from Sri Lanka, who represented the women’s division in this tournament, was able to win the third place.

She is a resident of Wellawatta, Colombo.

20-year-old Nilakshi Bandara, who represented Sri Lanka in the Miss Teen category, won the fourth place and also won the “Best Social Activist” award.

28-year-old Navin Gunasekara, who represented the male (MR) section of the tournament, was awarded the “Most Promising Model” award.

He is a resident of Piliyandala area.

Mr. Nirmal Bandara, the national organizer of this Sri Lankan team, was able to win the award as “Best National Director” among the 25 countries that participated in this tournament.

It is special that this award has been won for the first time in the history of Sri Lankan modeling industry.

04 models represented Sri Lanka in this tournament and all of them won awards.

The group of award winners arrived at Katunayake Airport on AirAsia flight AK-045 from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia at 09.40 on 01/15 and Miss Sri Lanka 2023 (Miss Sri Lanka) Malki Dissanayake was there to welcome them. As well as parents of these winning models, a group of people came to the arrival terminal of Katunayake Airport.
